App Store custom product pages header
Each App Store custom product page can use its own header. Custom product pages pick an already-approved header from the Asset Library, and every product page optimization treatment has its own Header and Search Results tab, so one app can match a different header to each campaign, audience or ad creative.
| Placement | Type | Ratio | Size (px) | Also required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Product page header | Video | 21:9 | 3840 x 1646 | 30 or 60 fps · 5–30 seconds · .mp4, .mov, .m4v · muted by default, viewers can unmute · loops |
| Product page header | Image | 21:9 | 3840 x 1646 | .jpeg, .jpg or .png · no alpha / transparency |
| Product page header (universal) | Image | 16:9 | 5244 x 2950 | .png only · the one file that can also serve search results |

How do custom product pages get a header?
Headers are uploaded and reviewed once, then live in the Asset Library. A custom product page selects its header from the library's approved assets rather than uploading a fresh file. Headers can also be set per localization, so a page can show a different header in each language.
Because assets go through review on their own, adding a header to a custom product page does not need a new app build.

What about product page optimization tests?
Each product page optimization treatment has its own Header and Search Results tab, and a test can have up to three treatments. That makes the header a testable variable: same screenshots, different header, and the test tells you which one converts.

Why one header per campaign?
The header now plays across the top of the product page, so the first thing a visitor sees is a full-width video rather than a screenshot. Developers on X have pointed out what that means for paid acquisition: if each ad creative sends traffic to its own custom product page, each page can open with a header that continues the ad.
Keep each one inside the rules of App Review guideline 2.3.14: suitable for ages 4+, no misleading references to other apps, and no prices or discounts in the artwork.

Does every custom header need the same specs?
Yes. A custom product page header is the same asset type as the default one: 21:9 at exactly 3840 x 1646, video at 30 or 60 fps and 5–30 seconds, or the 16:9 universal PNG. Headers only appear on iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 or later.
Plan for the poster frame, too: it cannot be changed after approval, and it is what people see before the video starts.

How can I check a header file before uploading it?
Drop it into the checker on the /specs page. It reads the file in your browser and reports width, height, ratio, duration, frame rate, codec, alpha and leftover metadata against the table above. The free tool at appstoreheader.topxup.com does the same for still images.
VideoDuo's generator runs the same checks on the server after every final render, and a credit is only used once a file has passed them.
Give a custom product page its own header
- 1Make one header per audience or ad creative, each to the same specs.
- 2Upload them and submit them for review so they land in the Asset Library.
- 3Open each custom product page and select its approved header from the Asset Library.
- 4For a test, give each product page optimization treatment its own header on its Header and Search Results tab.
